New to this game so bare with me.

I bought a gtx 1060 and have placed it in the correct pci-e etc, went to plug in my monitor but of course that is vga and needs to be dvi, so I'll buy an adaptor or dvi cord.

My question is why i can't install the nvidia drivers, is this because my monitor is connected to the motherboard and not the gpu itself ? I know I can't use the gpu until its plugged into the monitor but shouldn't the pc still pick up the gpu And be able to install the drivers? The auto search on the nvidia site doesn't pick up anything and even doing it manually doesn't either.

Gpu has power and fans are spinning. I'm reading a bit about this BIOS thing? Do i need to turn off my r7 intergrated first? Maybe that's the logical next step?

Errr?
