I accidentally deleted my operating system from my Gateway laptop. It's it's a Windows 7 Home Edition and when I boot it a black screen that says:
For atheros PCIE Ethernet controller v2.0.2.3(05/18/10)
Check connection!
PXE- M0F: exiting Intel pex Rom
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

I bought this computer about 4 or 5 years ago new so it already had all the operating system preloaded and it did not come with a bootable desk. Is there anything that I could do to reinstall the operating system or do I have to go out and just buy a new CD which I really don't want to do since I do have a product code for Windows 7

Thanks in advance

You need to reinstall the OS on that drive. There are a number of ways to do this. If you have a CD drive you can purchase a Win7 installation CD and install windows that way.

Another way is to purchase a key online and download the Win7.iso from the Microsoft website and create a bootable USB, note that your motherboard may not support booting from USB so you'll need to provide more information about your laptop before I can tell you if it does.

Lastly, if neither of the previous options are available, you can remove the HDD from the laptop and connect it to another computer either internally or via a dock. From there you can install windows on it via the previous two options.
