Took apart my computer now it doesn't work. PSU Problem, or Motherboard?

So I recently bought a 212 Evo cooler because the stock cooler on my AMD CPU is loud as hell.
I built my PC around two years ago and for some reason i'm just getting around to replacing it now.
So I take everything apart, replace the panel on the back of the mobo with the new one that came with the 212. Install it, plug everything back in( psu cords that I plugged in are the one 24-pin, one to the case fan, one 4-pin to the mobo, two go to the gpu, one to ssd, one to hdd, one to cd-rom). I even plugged in the led power lights on the front, as well as the cpu fan to the mobo. If you think there's anything I may have forgot let me know.

Anyhow, after everything was together I turned it on and it didn't work. Apart from one small green led light on the bottom of the mobo no sound, no beeps, no fans, nothing. So I took it all apart again and put in the old heatsink+cooler and now it doesn't work with the original one. So i'm guessing I either damaged something(if so, what?) or i'm forgetting to plug something in.

Also I already tried taking the psu out of the case and testing it. When I connect it straight to the wall using the paperclip in the 24-pin connector it beeped and the fan whirred up straight away. Which leads me to think it isn't the psu. Also I checked if any of the pins on the processor are damaged or bent and they're all perfectly straight. Any ideas before I go and buy a new motherboard?

In case it helps my mobo is a Asus m5a97 and the power supply is a Thermaltake TR2 650W.

Yes, reinserted the ram, it's low profile so it's out of the way of the heatsink and fits perfectly. As for the power switch connections no I haven't. Do you mean opening up the psu and making sure the cables inside are connected properly? I would assume they are since when I switched it on while testing it with the paper clip the psu turned on immdeiately.

Not gonna lie, you got me excited with that one but I checked on it and I did indeed plug it in. Everything I can think of is plugged in to the right places.
