Hello,

I just built my first pc and i've got a question regarding my cpu and heat sink: I've got an intel core i5 7600k with an cooler master 212 hyper heat sink.

I found installing the heat sink particularly tricky, and seeing the idling cpu temperature and fan rpm i have my doubts

While idling the cpu is 42 dergrees celcius while the fan has 1150 rpm (fan range is 600 to 1600 rpm)

Can anyone confirm whether this is ok? I would hate to directly accidently destroy it.

Thanks!

I doubt you would destroy it but the idle temps are on the high side. Depending on where you live and the temps in room and as an example, I live in London and it currently is 18 degrees C, my i-7 6700k at 4.4Ghz idels at 22 to 25..I am using an AIO though. Still, the Hyper 212 should be doing a good job and should be around 30 degrees at idle.

I would make sure that the Hyper 212 is seated correctly on the CPU, well worth re-seating with a pea (just smaller) size of thermal material and testing again...I think it could be as simple as that...

Let me know how you get on..
