Router only works through one phone jack

Hello! I'm having a problem with my router. For some reason, it only creates a connection when connected through one specific phone jack in my home. I would like to move it for a direct ethernet connection, but I can't because there's no connection in that room. Does anyone know what this problem is and how to go about it? (If there's no solution, I'll just use a powerline solution, but your help would be greatly appreciated.)

In my home, I run a 100 foot Cat5e cable along the edge of the living room (tucked under the baseboard) and down the hallway into my office.

I had the same sort of problem. It turned out to be one of the phone lines was poor quality to the jack.
I solved the problem by using a powerline network.

I assume you mean a DSL connection since that uses phone wire.

These type of questions pretty much you have to answer yourself in a way since there is no way to know how the wires in your house run.

In older houses phone jacks are daisy changed together so any problem with the wires in a jack will affect all the jacks farther down. In newer houses the phone lines run back to a central panel and are connected many times to some form of phone distribution thing. Many times it is just a punch down block that connect the wires together.

All you can really do is take the wall plates off and try to figure out where the wires go. It should work if you can somehow find a way to get the wires to connected either to the main phone line or to the wires in the jack the works.
