I would wait until Intel Coffee Lake releases, and rumors of a 1070 Ti possibly by end of Oct are circulating as well.

Coffee Lake release is coming soon, and the 8700k benches are already coming in showing it equaling a 7700k even in gaming performance. It's clocked at 3.7GHz instead of 4.2Ghz for the 7700k, but it turbos up to 4.3GHz on all 6 cores.

It will likely run cooler for the most part, but still handle serious gaming loads, and kick butt on multi tasking. And even if you can't afford a 1070 Ti, the price on non Ti models may come down when it releases.

It is a good build but I recommend you get a better cooler than the evo, it is a good heatsink but your CPU would get too hot wuthout proper cooling. An AIO cooler is easy to set up, I recommend the Corsair Hydro Series or some of the NZXT AIOS. But unless you are getting the x62 from NZXT, I prefer the corsair AIOS. And if ou want an AIR cooler since they are cheaper look at the dark rock 3 or the dark rock 3 pro. Maybe get a better motherboard (just so you can have more things to add (led strips, etc maybe rgb), It's not bad but you have a good cpu and other components so if you can, I would splurge for one (maybe a asus one).

Your GPU is solid but an EVGA one might be better for 1070s (ftw edition), I myself am getting a gigbyte 1070 but thats just me. otherwise it's a good build! I'd go for 1 TB unless you need the 2 TBs also. But good job on finding the parts! I like it!

I just got a 8700k recently and paired it with a Cryorig H7. It idles from high 20s to mid 30s depending on ambient temp (I have no air conditioning), and at load it stays around 55c, sometimes peaking at 60c. In Far Cry 5 though, which I play mostly lately, it stays at 55c.

A good AIO water setup will do slightly better. I had an old Corsair H50, which only had a 120 rad, and it was actually less effective than the H7. The free space around the CPU is nice, but you DO have to deal with the bulk of a 240 rad if you want an AIO that has better performance than a decent air cooler. They'll also cost 2 to 3 times as much and are more of a chore to clean.

That said, I don't OC my 8700k, so I was going for something with adequate cooling that has good performance to cost ratio. The H7 is touted as best performance to cost ratio in an air cooler, and in my experience, it is exactly that. However I also live in an area that is only hot (80 fahrenheit or more) a couple months out of the year. And that is just extreme temps on certain days. The average temp for the two hottest months is 75.

As I mentioned I'm not OCing it, and as I tried to convey, am perfectly happy with the temps I'm getting. I really feel I have no reason to delid it.

And for the record, my choice to not OC is not just for performance reasons. Running an OC means running it hotter. I mean you so much as kick W10 into High Performance mode and it runs at a constant 4.3GHz, vs idling at WAY less than that.

I'm playing at 1080p with an EVGA 1080 SC. Trust me, I get plenty good enough performance in games with zero OCing, and it runs way cooler and quieter that way. My GPU fans don't even kick on until it hits 55c, and it stays under 65c in all games. I also have an Antec DF-85 case, which is one of the best cases for airflow.
