3570k is getting old. Time to overclock (need safe temp + volt advice)

So the 3570k has done me well over the years but I'm not quite ready to upgrade my entire system, hence why it's overclocking time.

I've looked at some guides online and I've done an overclock on my CPU and here's the results

3570k @4.5
Max voltage seems to be around 1.16-1.175 (I think this is due to load line calibration)
Max temps while stress testing are around 60-65c (while gaming it's a little less depending on my GPU temp)

I stressed tested this overclock for around 6 hours on prime 95 and i've been playing on CPU intensive games for 3 days without and crashes.

Also my mobo is the z77 extreme 6

What do you guys think? Is this overclock "safe"? Will that voltage + temp reduce the lifespan of the CPU by much?

I only want another 12-18 months out of this CPU then it's upgrade system time.

That's the crux. While the 3570k is still a very respectable cpu in terms of power, with that OC roughly equivalent to the Ryzen cpus now, it's an i5. That's 4core/4thread. Which is getting to be a bare minimum for gaming. Pubg, BF1, Witcher 3, gta:V and other popular AAA titles are all 8 thread optimized, you loose @20+% fps right off the rip by only having 4. With a 980, you are still capable of maxing out anything on 1080p/60Hz monitors but moving to a higher refresh monitor is going to hurt, badly in some games, as that loss in thread ability will get larger.

As far as OC goes, my 3570k is sitting at 4.2GHz 1.114v, and stays running basically 24/7, shutdowns for cleaning or the occasional reboot windows seems to demand every so...

That's perfect overclock for that chip. I have the same cpu but I'm not overclocking it as far because I didn't want to mess my voltages just yet and I'm at 4.2
Your temps when under stress are fine and a long as you are experiencing no instability while at 4.5 then you are good to go

what's your max voltage at 4.2?

Also how much do the you think the 3570k has left in the tank in terms of high end gaming? It's getting pretty old now lol

@4.5 Ghz I'd say you'll be fine, time to upgrade the gpu if you need more jam......

I currently have the gtx 980. The next time i upgrade the GPU the whole system is getting upgraded :p.

Well I could achieve a better voltage if I wasn't using a z75 chipset. I don't have manual voltage control just offset so I set my default to +.005 offset (the minimum option) then I set the turbo boost to it's minimum and I don't remember what that is. But I do know that turbo boost makes it go up to 1.36. If I had a better cooler I would definitely push my offsets to achieve a better clock.

I personally don't have a problem at 4.2Ghz on modern titles at 1080p 60Hz. Coupled with an MSI Gaming X 4G 1050ti with an added overclock of +150 bringing up to 1900Mhz clock and added +600 on memory making it 4000 (8000 effective due to double density nature of DDR memory) I don't have an issue with my games and they don't tend to make my CPU go over 80% usage. average 65-75% usage in titles.

You still have more life left in that CPU. Come 2020 you'll need to upgrade. and at that point you should have saved enough money to upgrade everything to newer and better stuff.
