So I read that i7 7700k's got bad thermal pastes on them. I also get pretty high temps. I got a Enermax liquid 120mm cooler ( I know its not a 240mm. ).

How do I re-apply the thermal paste? A friend of mine build this system. Which thermal paste do I need? Do I need to worry about the water getting out of the cooler if I take it off from the CPU? etc etc..

thanks :D

Solution
No need to worry about water leakage if your connections are tight. Remember to flush your liquid [water] system every year. There are a few TIM that are very good:

Thermal Grizzly
GELID GC-EXTREME
and Arctic MX-4 is still good

I use a dual solution with a final surface cleaning [to remove old TIM] by using coffee filters because they are lint free. ArctiClean 1 and 2.

I have CPU delidding information here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3549415/high-temps-7700k-h105.html#20308491
I believe you are confusing the TIM itself which sits underneath the heatspreader and connects between the CPU die and heatspreader. The thermal paste typically refers to the compound that sits between the top of the heatspreader and your CPU cooler. What temps are you getting?

What's your gaming temp, vice the unrealistic Prime95/small FFT temp? (Prime95/blend seems to simulate approximately a BF1-level of moderate heat, which seems more 'real world' applicable)

My own 7700K gets about 63C in BF1, and 59-60C in Prime95/blended
