is a upgrade from a gtx 980m 4gb to a r9 390 8gb worth it?

recently my 980m 4gb has not been performing as i would like. And since i recently got a alienware amplifier from a mate who doesnt game anymore i wondered if the upgrade would show a respectable performance increase. i just want to get solid 60 fps in most games at midium/high or ultra setting.

I don't think used 390 would give you a performance upgrade worth 200 over the 980m.

A 1050Ti or a 1060 3GB would be the better choice IMO. Not only are they cheaper, but a new one will last you longer as well. A lot of used graphics cards that are on the market right now may be from the bitcoin mining boom, and you never know how far the previous owner may have pushed the graphics card. A 1050Ti will definitely give you 60FPS at 1080p on medium and high, though struggles a bit at Ultra. If you want at least 60FPS on all settings, go for the 1060 3GB.

tim9800, a friend of mine has a 1050 ti but it does not perform aswel as a 980m. and the 1060 3gb are about 230 to 250 here and i can get the r9 390 8gb for 200. would that change the situation?

Honestly, its up to you. If you can find a trustworthy R9 390 seller where you live, preferably with as little use as possible, then go for it. I, personally, would still go for the 1050Ti.

thanks. do you also know if 60 to 80 fps on 2560x1080 in pubg with al very low setting except textures and view distance (on medium) with 90% resolution scale is normal? because i looked up a video on on youtube and someone on 1920x1080 had 100 resolution scale and most settings on medium, 1 or 2 low and shadows and view distance on ulta and he got a constant 60 fps

I don't play pubg so i don't really know, but i have heard that it still suffers a lot of optimization issues.
