Hi all.
I have a 2009 PC lying around and would like to upgrade it spending as little as possible. Its main use will be running office programs and web surfing... but also very light gaming.
The motherborad is an Asrock N68-S (AM2+/AM3) and supports most 95w Phenoms II. I've been offered a Phenom II 840 (3.2 Ghz, 2MB L2, NO L3 cache) and a Phenom 945 (3.0 Ghz, 2MB L2, 6MB L3 cache). Is one much better than the other?
I suppose they are almost the same when surfing the net and watching videos, but is one better for gaming? Do 200mhz compensate the lack of 6MB of L3 cache? The main game it's meant to run is World of Warcraft, which is very cpu dependant and keeps most of its load on a single core, though it would be used for doing simple/solo world content and very low end raiding (LFR).
