Does a secondary SSD need its own operating system installed?

This site has helped me recently with finding a new CPU to upgrade to, now i need help with an SSD. I have a dell that now has a GTX 1050 Ti and an Intel I7-2600 @3.4Ghz. On NFS 2015 i still have an issue of the disappearing map and the only thing left is my HDD. If i have teh same issue with Payback then i am upgrading to a second drive. My question is everything i read talks about how to install OS to the second drive but is it needed? I would use a SSD with low storage since it will be for the one game only

No you will not.
You need one drive with the OS and you can have 20 other disks plugged into the system for storage other programs and games.

thanks. Second question, is there any setup or is it just plug in, turn on and the computer automatically knows what to do
