If you spent $1700 on a 6950, I think I'd be using it for the next 5 years at least, rather than contend with $400 liquid cooling solutions for 7960/7980X, etc....

You can compare 7980X performance to the 6900/6950 in any of several 7980X reviews at assorted websites and on youtube reviews, looking at the results of your preferred usage scenario...
