High CPU Idle Temps (Quick spikes)

Hello,

I recently just got a new computer with a i7 6700k and a MSI 1080 - the 6700k is water cooled by a Corsair H60. My GPU idles at 29 degrees Celsius, my CPU will sit between 30-35 and occasionally spikes up for a split second. The spike is anywhere from 40 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius but it only last a second or two then it is instantly cooled back down to low 30's. When the CPU is under full load it only reaches 65 degrees celsius (tested by games and 3dmark). I currently have the pump set to 100% at all times, the two intake fans run at 40% at all times and scale up (40% for any temp, 50% at 50 degrees Celsius, 80% at 70 degrees, 100% at 80 degrees) they are both in the front. The rear fan has the radiator and is an exhaust with the same set up and then the top is another exhaust with the same fan speeds.

Should i be concerned? What could be causing this?

Thanks,
Joe

Solution
I have exactly the same setup. A i7-6700K running at 4.5Ghz and a MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X...I live in London so the weather tend to be cool. My idle temps are in the low to mid 20's and at load around the mid 60's... The reason my idles might be a bit lower is becouse I have a 360mm AIO which is quiet a bit bigger than yours with a 360, radiator..so I think you are more than fine. Also be aware, if you are running a XMP profile on any overclocked memory say DDR4 @3000Mhz, that tends to make the CPU temps around 5 to 10 degrees higher...

Solution
As the processor often ramps up a single core or two for fractions of a second to near 4.2 GHz, there will be correlational instantaneous spikes up and down that might not be noticed were it not for staring at HWMOnitor...

Normal in my opinion...

Frag on!
