Intel Core i7-2700K Vs. Intel Xeon E3-1290

I have an Intel Core i5-2500 machine now with a GTX 650Ti and 12 GB of memory. I mostly do gaming and I was wondering what would be the better upgrade the Core i7-2700K or the Xeon E3-1290.

If your motherboard supports overclocking then I'd go with the i7 however if it's locked then the Xeon as it has a higher base clock/boost clock.

What's you budget for upgrading?
