Hi,

Don't judge my question yet- I am trying to clone a NVMe drive to another NVMe drive through a third SSD, ideally using the Samsung migration tool. I have to resort to this since I use laptop with no second socket for a HD. Before buying a used Samsung EVO to use with a USB to SATA case, I had the thought that I might be able to use a 128GB Samsung USB key to do the trick. Has anyone tried this?

You can't do a direct 'clone' to that USB stick, but you might be able to create an image, and then use that image with the new drive.

How much space is currently consumed on the source drive?

Then this might work.
You probably can't use the Samsung Data Migration, but try Macrium Reflect.

An Image is what you're looking to do, not a 'clone.
Also, you'll need to create a Macrium Rescue CD or USB (on a different USB stick).

Steps:
Install Macrium
Create the Macrium Rescue CD or USB.
Then, run it, and tell it to make an Image on the USB stick.
Assuming that works, power off and swap drives
Boot from the Rescue CD or USB.
Tell it where the Image is, and what target drive you want it to go to.

Should work.
