Hello,

So I was reading all these review and found that the m.2 ssd are usually faster, so I purchased one today at a store earlier and was excited to install it. Later I realized that my motherboard doesnt have an m.2 slot on the motherboard *facepalm, i dont think i can return the ssd anymore since it is already opened, is there a way I can use this?

Motherboard: gigabyte ga-z77-d3h
Ssd: intel 600p m.2 ssd 512gb

Thank you very much in advance.

No, you can't use that drive, as the OS drive, in that system.
You could get a PCI-e adapter and use it as a secondary drive, but that is a waste of money and the drive.

If at all possible, send it back.

I understand that it would be a waste of money to buy an adaptor to use it, but why is it a waste to use it as a secondary drive? Will it not increase the speed or work as it is supposed to?

Thanks again for the quick reply

Unless you are routinely shuffling around large blocks of data, the theoretical speed increase of that NVMe drive vs a regular SATA SSD is going to waste.

Like if you were a video or 3D production house.

I guess if they dont accept the return I will have to get an adaptor or save it for the future when i decide to build a new pc.

Thank you very much for your help.

It's not an nvme drive.
