Will this RAM work on my MOBO?

My MOBO specs say it supports 16 GB RAM max, with DDR3 1600 Mhz non-ECC unbuffered memory. The thing is: the only option I can buy from Amazon is HyperX (2x8)GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL10. On the product details it doesn't say any nonECC unbuffered info, just that. So will it work on my mobo?

Here is the Hyper X support list from ASROCK. They model you are looking for is: HX316C10FR/8

I don't see your model here. That does not mean it wont work as this RAM may have come out after the motherboards release. If you do get it, you may have to flash your bios for it to work.

My suggestion is to get something form the list or if you get this RAM, get it from a vendor with a return policy just in case.

What is the model of your motherboard? Every motherboard manufacture list their memory support list. On the memory support list it will identify the specific memory model numbers. You should select one from that list.

With that being said, the RAM you selected has a 99% chance that it will work as it is non ECC and unbuffered.

Just to add little explanation for next time.

Now, how you know if it's ECC or non-ECC?
based on sixteen 512M x 8-bit DDR3
non-ECC memory is built using 8-bit modules, ECC memory use 9-bit modules - 9th bit is used for error correction.
 


^^^ This is exactly the difference between ECC and non-ECC. But there is another way to know the difference. Price. ECC RAM is expensive as all get out. I put some DDR4 ECC RAM in my server at home and I was blown away by the price.

So just a tip, if you are shopping for RAM and question if it is ECC or not, then look at the price. If it is sky high, it is probably ECC. Although, these days RAM prices are borderline outrageous anyway.
