Intel 330 60GB SSD and caching

Some time ago, I started having trouble with my Intel 330 60GB SSD that I was using as a cache drive with Intel's "Smart Response Technology". After working fine for a few years, the system would not boot with the SSD attached to the 1st SATA III port. After some trial and error, I discovered that it worked fine if I plugged it into the 2nd SATA III port. Other drives worked fine when plugged into the 1st SATA port.

Fast forward a year, and now my PC won't recognize the SSD at all. Even the Intel SSD Toolbox can't detect the SSD. I was changing some SATA (boot order and RAID/AHCI mode) settings in the BIOS when it happened, but so far I've been unable to determine if anything I changed caused the problem. Any suggestions for restoring the SSD? Even if I can get it working again, should I trust it?

Solution
Never mind, this was the simplest problem of all. In the process of removing that chassis cover, the SATA cable had come unplugged. Hooked it back up to the 2nd SATA port, and everything is working now.
