Hi,

I recently purchased some new fans for my PC. I bought the Corsair CO-9050006-WW Air Series SP120. (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007RESFR2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

The problem is that since i've installed them they have been running at full power constantly despite very low temps, this is causing them to be quite loud.

I have the ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks.

The root of the issue is that those fans are of the 3-pin design. That means that they can be controlled by a mobo header ONLY if that header uses Voltage Control Mode (aka DC Mode), and NOT PWM Mode. Your mobo has three CHA_FAN headers with 4 pins, indicating that they CAN use PWM Mode, and very likely the BIOS is set to do just that. Look in your manual on p. 3-22 for info on the configuration of CHA_FANs. It does NOT say that there is an option available to change the Mode of these headers, but ASUS often does have that option. so go into the CHA_FAN settings details for EACH of your case fans and see if you can choose to have them operate in DC Mode. If you find that and make that change for each header, remember to SAVE and EXIT.

Thanks for the help! Turns out I just needed to change the settings in the BIOS.
