Right now, I'm running an i7 930k on an Asus P6X58d-E motherboard with 12 gigs of RAM and a GTX 970. I used to overclock the CPU to 4.00 GHz, but it has had some old age issues so I've gone back to the stock 2.8 GHz.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a Ryzen 5 1600 or 1600x with an Asus B350 motherboard. What kind of FPS increase in games from the past 3 years should I expect? Is it worth it?

Thanks so much.

R5 1600 from a i7-930, yep, worth it. Those 1st gen Sandy's are missing a bunch of instruction sets that games are using now, killing fps. That Ryzen cpu has IPC equitable to an i7-4790k, so even at stock speeds, it's going to dust your i7 in anything single thread heavy, and will stomp anything multi threaded.
Not a big cpu-boss fan, but it does put it in perspective
