my hard drive is making a strange tick noise

I just got a new hard drive like a day ago and hear this tick sound whenever i play a game. And whenever it happens the game lags. Helpp

Idk about that one, but I have a Hitachi Ultrastar 2TB that has always made an awful grinding/ticking noise when it reads/writes since it was new. I suspect some just do that; even though I used to always hear (a slightly different) clicking noise on really old HDDs and heard that was a sign of near imminent failure.

Thats why i got a new one cause that was happening with the one i had. I hoped thats its gonna be better but still have problems. Did yours stop to make those noises or what?

No but mine makes a grinding noise, but I think it's normal for my Ultrastar as it is a server HDD that isn't really supposed to be quiet. If yours is clicking I would contact either the retailer or the manufacturer to see about RMA'ing it for a replacement or refund. Maybe get a Western Digital or Seagate if you can.
