Ok, now that the 8700k is out I've updated what I think my PC build is going to look like, and with some opinions, I'd like to make sure it's all good.

First thing to know, I have to finance this PC as I don't have the ability to pay it all off at once, as much as I hate it, I'll have to skip the part where I build the PC myself :(

Second thing to know, there is a lack of a HDD in the rig because I'm buying an SSHD. That replaces the HDD as SSHD beats HDD but it doesn't beat an SSD, therefore, the logical decision is to have a SSHD and an SSD.

This is the build I'm looking at, now, I have a GTX 970 already, question is, would the GPU bottleneck the 8700k? I don't really know, without the 1070 in the rig the price drops down to about £1400 or so.

Opinions on the build? Anything you would change? The site I used was PCspecialist.

Thanks!

]Yikes that is quite expensive but I understand, when I was younger my insurance was very expensive but if you put in at least a few years of no accident driving the insurance price should go down. I did wait though to get a bike at 25 (9 years of no tickets/accidents with a car), before that I was offroad with a dirtbike & trials bike.

Newer build looks good.

If you can't afford it outright then why not just adjust the parts down to a price you can afford and build it yourself, some parts like the 1TB SSD (240gb & 1TB HDD better combo), AIO CPU Cooler & RGB lighting is extra stuff that's not needed. How much can you spend now?

Still waiting on budget but something like this would work well with your current GTX 970 until you can get a better GPU.

Problem is that I'm saving up for a motorcycle, so one of the two HAS to be done on a finance, the motorcycle is the least safe to do on finance as it is more prone to being written off in an accident, whereas the PC is a lot less likely to break.

That's the whole reason I've gone for something like this. Apologies for not diving more in depth as to the reason I have to do this on finance.

I would think getting finance on a motorcycle would be better as you can purchase insurance for it which should cover for accidents but maybe things are different in the UK. I financed my motorcycle in the US and per my state must be insured no matter if it's bought outright or financed although with it being financed they force you to have the fullest coverage in case you do have a accident.

Either way both builds would be fine for your uses but personally I would adjust some stuff on your original build to better suit your uses.

The insurance I'll be purchasing would be 3rd party, meaning it won't cover my own personal accidents. I'm too young to afford full comp, it will end up costing me £2,000+ as I'm 19, so the insurance is through the roof.

That's also why I mentioned the bike being written off, if it was, I'm then financing a bike that doesn't exist anymore, as it's been deemed uneconomical to be repaired by the insurance company.

Some questions: Why only a 250GB SSD? I'm going to be storing a fair few games on it as well as my OS, it would easily exceed that 250GB size imo, which is why I picked a 1TB one, although I don't think I REALLY need that size, just picking it for safety.

Secondly, in regards to the HDD, I'm planning on buying an SSHD that I can then shove into the build as opposed to having a HDD as SSHD's are better than HDD's.

How about something like this? Minor modifications to what you've built.

Mm, unfortunately at 19 without having quite a few years under my belt my insurance is going to be quite high up there. 125's just don't have the power I want and anything higher costs a fortune to insure, rather annoying but that's the way it is. For third party i'm currently looking between £800 - £1700 at least from quotes I've received online.

Plus I started on bikes, never liked cars. And cheers, I'll do a tad more research and then if all goes well I'll order away. At least I'll get to put the SSHD in, right? :wahoo:

I would go with a SSD & HDD for best price/storage amount as the SSHD are ok but don't really give you SSD speeds.

As for the bikes I started with a Ninja 250, then Ninja 1000 and regrettably gave it up for a Harley 1400. I hear the 125's are pretty fun if you ride local but I'm sure are terrible for highway speeds. If I could do it over I'd probably go for a 250-650CC "adventure bike" which is on road and light off road. Not sure what's available to you but the Kawasaki KLX 250 is pretty awesome and I plan on getting it for my next bike.

I would probably buy a Ninja 250 however, I'm part of a riders club as a prospect, you need a 400cc bike or over to become full patch, something like the Duke 390 would be acceptable but anything lower wouldn't really be allowed. My options are looking at anything about 400cc and above haha.

I've been looking at cruiser style bikes as I like the feel of cruisers. XVS650 would be the one I'd get if I was to get one, no other cruisers really out there that are around that sort of CC that aren't like £5000 or over.

Other options would probably be the Bandit 600s, Hornets and potentially the CB500 range.
Not really sure what bike I want yet, gotta focus first on getting my full license sorted.

As for it, the reason I'm choosing an SSHD isn't to act as an SSD, it's simply to replace the HDD, as HDD's are slower than SSHD's, so it makes sense to get both an SSD and an SSHD.

Oh and I almost forgot, would this PC be bottlenecked by my GPU? I want to know whether it's better to upgrade. I've had this one for about 2-3 years now and it's running fine still, I'm looking hopefully not to upgrade any time soon so if It'd be worthwhile doing now I may as well do it on the finance plan.

Thanks for all your help though!
