Hello all,
I have the following scenario in mind for casual use and some light productivity (not interested in games):
Motherboard: Asus Prime Z370-A
CPU: Intel i7-8700 (non-K locked version, I am not interested in OC)
RAM: 32GB.
Intel claims memory support for Coffee Lake up to 2666MHz.
Using this build, and since I will use a locked CPU, am I obliged to use 2666MHz ram or I can I put faster ram, let's say 3200MHz? The memory controller which will be OCed is in the CPU or is in the chipset? Even if I can, is the performance increase significant?
Thank you all,
Nikos
