No Internet Connection when connected to VPN

I've recently moved my PC to another room in the house, and now all of a sudden I am getting no internet connection upon connecting to a VPN. My router signal strength is flawless and internet works fine when not using VPN. But when connecting to VPN and trying to load a page via Chrome I keep gettin the message "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET". Assuming it may be a DNS problem I tried running the "netsh winsock reset' command in command prompt as an administrator and manually assigning DNS servers 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and 208.67.222.222/208.67.220.220 in TCP/IPv4 properties, still getting the same problem. I tried resetting my router and modem countless times, as well as reinstalling and updating my VPN clients without any results either (I'm getting the same problem using both VPN Unlimited and PIA services. Have been using VPN for years without a problem so this is definitely a headscratcher - any thoughts?

Just tried connecting via L2TP using windows vpn and that's working fine. Seems bizarre that I'm getting no connection using the clients - I really prefer using them since it streamlines switching between servers and etc so much - any idea what the root of the problem may be?

Did you end up finding an answer to this? I have been facing the exact same issue with VPN Unlimited and PIA

Odd you are having this problem i was having this problem with NordVPN and couldnt get it resolved and had to switch providers. hmm maybe its the ISP. i had PIA and never had problems my only problem is that it didnt work with netflix.
