hello and thank you to whoever may be reading this. i am new to computer upgrading and would be very greatful for any help this community could extend my way.

so what i am after is to find out what a suitable graphics card upgrade would be for my computer

the model is a hq compaq dc7100 sff (pe270et), when bought it had windows xp pro installed. i have upgraded it to windows 7 and in the sysmtem specs it says the graphics card is standard VGA graphics adapter

i am looking to upgrade to a graphics card that can run direct3d and directdraw

i have updated and scanned the hell out of my pc today and neither direct3d or directdraw are functional. please could someone shed some light on what compatibly graphics card i could buy to have these functions.

the main purpose for this question is to have the right equipment to run some old 3d games on this pc, nothing modern really just early 3d games from the 90's from playstaion1 converted for pc.

basically i have all the requirments needed except for an upgraded graphics card.

thanks for any help and i am sorry if my lack of pc knowledge is offensive or funny, i am learning...i am getting there.

yes that is it

To be honest your pc is very old. Even today lowest end GPU (GT1030, RX550) might be hold back by the CPU. and that slim unit only come up with 240W power supply. Most often gpu maker would at least recommend 300W unit even for their lowest end GPU that sip power. Though i think GPU like GT1030 might be able to work with that 240W unit. In the past PC Perspective able to make pre built pc with 250W power supply to work with 750ti (in comparison 750ti consume almost twice the power GT1030 use).

Can't get better pc?

i know that the pc i have is very old and that it would be a lot better to buy a new one altogether but it is primarily used for bussiness type work and is able to do that well enough, i was just hoping i could upgrade the graphics card to be able to play low end old games during down time (have about 1-2 hours everyday sat here waiting on this old computer) i really have no need for a newer computer at the time and only wanted to upgrade to play old 3d games, like stated, old ps1 games converted to pc. i have no interest in newer games so i don't need to be able to run anything taxing.

you can but i'm not sure if the card have support for win 7.

well,my gpu i use is amd radeon r5 230(rebrand of hd 6450)in same pc,its working completely fine with older games,i didnt test all of games for pc,but best i can run is neeed for speed:carbon or call of duty 2.my recommendaton is :find a low profile gpu for cheap on ebay(or whathewer you buy)so,find gpu, than see how well it performs by watching videos on yt,and buy that one if you like it.

This is not just for you 8ocelot,this is for everyone that has same problem
