Hey guys I am upgrading to a whole new gaming rig. My question is I want to keep the 1tb hd which has windows 10 installed along with my games and applications from my old rig and just connect it to my new rig. Is it possible to just connect to the new rig and everything is fine? or is it more complex then that?

No.
A 'factory reset' simply reloads everything as it was originally, on the original hardware.

You're going to all new hardware.

Sometimes moving a drive to new hardware works. Sometimes it fails horribly.
Sometimes it sort of works.

A clean reinstall is always recommended, often required. And you won't know until after you try it.

Prepare before you need it.

Yes, it is more complex than that.
This question gets asked 10x a day here.

For all new hardware, simply swapping the drive with OS is a 100% maybe.
Anyone who says it always works simply has not done it enough to see it fail badly.

A full reinstall is always recommended, often required.
That's just for the actual operation.

For the licensing/activation:
Read and do this before you change any parts:

Okay so what if I factory reset my old rig so that the hdd is reset. Then just switched it to my new rig and downloaded everything again?
