I find it odd that intel starts selling a CPU without any motherboards for it...

I need a mini or Micro Atx for that, and don't want to spend a fortune, if that's the case I'll go for a Ryzen 1600 or so?....

Any idea how long it will take to have motherboards for this, 25% premium I can handle, but not a $500 board just for that!

Will it be days, weeks or months before these are available?

The problem with Ryzen is you'll need a dedicated GPU (at least until the APU's come out) but AMD is using the same socket (AM4) until 2020 which will be nice for upgrades.

All there saying for now is next year.

"But Intel isn't providing backward compatibility with either of the older LGA1151 motherboards (Z170 and Z270) and, curiously, your only upgrade path through the end of the year comes in the form of pricey Z370 motherboards—value-oriented B350 or H370 motherboards will not debut until next year."
