My pc will not boot and after troubleshooting all week I have isolated the motherboard as the culprit. I have a intel z97 motherboard with a i7 4770 cpu. I have not been able to find another z97 motherboard but according to google this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00EIG2O2O/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i2?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pd_rd_i=B00EIG2O2O&pd_rd_r=2781b716-ab5d-11e7-af36-b96cd2678eae&pd_rd_w=TEhXj&pd_rd_wg=BiSJ6&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=SZDGS9VK63T8NR856Q5V&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=187bec3b-0822-4044-bbe9-441718232b3f&pf_rd_i=desktop is compatible. Before I buy I want to check that this is the case and also will my ram or tower need to be replaced?

Solution
You are compatible.
Here is the cpu support list:
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/H81MPLUS/HelpDesk_CPU/
You should have no problem with the requisite bios, 0211.
I think that was the initial bios installed way back in 2013 when the motherboard was first produced.

Since your I7-4770 is not a K version, you can not overclock.
But, possibly you can with a unsupported bios that was withdrawn.
