Hello all,

I recently built my very first pc. Everything seemed to go well, but much to my surprise when powered on everything appears to be working but the computer does not post or beep. After a minute or so however, it does reach the desktop. I'm using the HDD from my old computer so it loads with everything still on it. However, the first thing that appears on screen is the desktop. No text or cue of any kind to allow me to enter the bios. While the PC is on, it appears to be functioning normally; though I have no attempted to play any games or anything with it. The whole situation has me quite perplexed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my build is as follows:

AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor
MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard
G.Skill - Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SC GAMING Video Card
Corsair - CXM 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Phanteks Eclipse P300 PH-EC300PTG_BK Black Steel Chassis, Tempered Glass Window ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Thanks in advance!

it''s an already installed version of windows that existed on the HDD from my old PC. The computer doesn't allow me to do anything before it reaches the desktop. I have a usb with windows 10 on it that I was going to use to reformat the drive.

your gonna need to do a fresh (new) install.your old install on the hdd just wont work on new hardware.

It does not allow me to do anything on the new PC prior to it reaching the desktop. I can't hit delete to enter the bios or load from a USB/disc. Its simply a black screen and then the sign in screen for my desktop appears. So I'll have to reformat and transfer over in this case I think

I removed the HDD and put in a brand new SSD however, it now does nothing. It turns on, fans are spinning, the MB lights up but it simply stays in that state. Nothing is appearing on screen and i'm getting no beep codes of any kind. Could the motherboard be defective somehow?
