Let my motherboard control the fans or the cooler software?

Hello,

As a new builder, I have a question. I have a feeling what the answer is but I need confirmation.

I'm leaning towards the ASUS Maximus X Hero mobo and the NZXT x62 cooler. they both have the ability sense temperatures and control the fans. I feel there could be a conflict using them both so I was wondering which is prefered? I'm pretty sure the x62 software needs to be connected to control the RGB, but if using the mobo to control the fans, can I simply turn off that feature in the cooler software and still have it control the lighting?

Thank you

Use the software, that way you can define the fan curves instead of the motherboards generic one.
For example, my H100i is leftover from an old PC, its not needed for a locked i5. So I have it set to the minimal fan curve for extra "silence".
