I replaced my GTX 960 card with a GTX 1080 card and every time I go to start a game, it will load up, maybe get to the load screen, and then shut off the entire computer. Only on one game i tried so far, did it work, but the entire screen flickered white and the resolution was wrong. When it shuts off i am not able to immediatly turn the power back on, I have to unplug the computer and wait a minute then plug it back in and it will start up again. Since this hasn't happened with the other graphics card i suspect something is off about this one or maybe my PSU, but I am not sure. maybe the gpu's memory speed is too high, or too low, I do not know. please help me.

Specs:
CPU: AMD A 10-7850k
Ram: 2x8gb DDR3
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
GPU: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A88X +BTC
PSU: Apevia ATX 700W

Hey, do you have the right driver since you are on W7?
Did you try to wipe the old drivers first, If not try to wipe all the grap drivers and try this as a solution for the right drivers https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-graphics-drivers-windows-7/

First off, how can you spend so much on a videocard but you have a cheap power supply? Can you stress test the computer, not using a game? Run Furmark or something like that. Does it still shut off?

My first suspicion is the power supply can't handle that card. But if the stress test works that would rule out the power supply.

Well, I tried the stress test and It shut off about 1.5 seconds after I hit the test button, so I'm going to guess it is the power supply. I'm going to replace the graphics card with my previous one and wait til i get a stronger PSU to confirm this.
