High Efficiency PSU's worth the money?

So for my new upgrade, I'm moving up from a 500w Hexa+ PSU to a 750w PSU. Initially, I was going to buy the Corsair RM750x, but noticed that I could buy the Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 750w (I'm a sucker for RGB) for $40 AUD cheaper. The Corsair unit is 80+ Gold whereas the TT unit is 80+. Is the extra $40 worth it? Or are high efficiency PSU's only good for 24/7 loads? Would the TT unit be of less build quality and is more likely to damage my system than the corsair unit?

The efficiency is not the only reason the RMx is more expensive it is higher quality and has a longer warranty.
TT review from jonnyguru 8.7
RMx review from jonnyguru 9.8

if your system draws 500W the TT will consume near 600W AC of power to deliver the 500W DC 7 yr warranty USD 82.00 11.70 per year
the RMx would draw around 560W AC to deliver the 500W DC 10 year warranty US dollars 119.00 or 11.90 per year for reliable power

from this cheapskates view they are the same price all things considered and the RMx is a higher quality unit

If I'm not really worried about energy saving or the like, would a bronze be enough to get away with?
