Hey fellow PC people!
My wife and I are planning on building a PC for my 9 year old daughter, I have link provided for a parts list, but was just wondering if this build would run games like MC, Roblox and maybe the sims 3. We plan on getting 8gb of ram and not 4. also have a few older GFX cards laying around but would like to see if this build would be more than enough first.

Thanks.

The biggest issue is budget. Jaslion put together a decent starter build, but it has serious flaws. No OS. Add another $100 there. No peripherals, add another $30 to that for a kb and mouse and maybe pc speakers. No monitor, add at least another $80 there. So your $300 budget gets blown up to somewhere around $500 to start with.

I'm thinking your best overall bet would be to start shopping Amazon, newegg, Walmart, Sam's club, microcenter etc and look for complete packages unless you have other stuff other than a few gpus laying around.

Thanks for the quick replies, but i was wondering since the build i have linked states it can run MC and such, so just not sure if they are full of it or not. Not looking for a power house PC and with in the next year or so I will be upgrading my personal PC so I will have parts to spare around that time. Or my wife just found this build here https://www.toptengamer.com/top-300-gaming-pc-build/ , seeing as it is double the price maybe it would just be best to go that way.

Thanks again and any input is very helpful.

The build you listed can run minecraft but it will already struggle. Can you list a budget since the one you listed is full of weak and old stuff that even for those easy to run games will struggle quite a bit.

We are looking at around $250-300, she only plays MC and Roblox really, if you could suggest a build that would work within that range it would really help us out. I know black friday and cyber monday are coming up so that could help with the cost. But thanks again.

You are either looking at a pentium g4560 + b250 board system or a used one you can get locally since 300$ doesn't give you much.

This is as good as it's going to get with a new built. The cpu itself is at least 2x as good as the old a6 and the gpu in it is better not a huge amount but it will at least play those games.

My daughter plays MC and Roblox on an old i5-3570k and gtx660ti on Windows 7 Pro without any issue whatsoever. There's only a few MC mods that have really any impact, and that just brings fps down from the 200+ range to the 100+ range, on a 60Hz 1080p monitor (just your standard pc monitor nowadays) and at the same time she's watching YouTube videos on the secondary monitor. MC and Roblox are not hard on the cpu in general unless paired with a strong gpu, which raises cpu usage to compensate for the uber high fps outputs.

That top ten gamer build or similar will work just fine.

Is that for the $150 or $300, It is just a starter pc, and in a year or so we will more than likely get it beefed up, even if that does mean a new MB, Just not looking to break the bank on something she might not be into in a few years.

That build will run you around the 250$ mark used. My build I posted earlier has an upgrade path ahead of it still and a gpu can easily be added in.
