You are trying to bring to life a PC you found on the side of a road, in a dumpster, next to a building, whatever. It could be any of the components. Or, all of them. Probably be a good idea to put it back where you found it, before you decide to throw money at it. Do you have any other parts to swap out and test in this system?

Well hi!

1st of all, i guess there was a reason they threw it out, more than the fact that it is dated. (Whoever has ddr2 in 2017 must be hell bent on squeezing every minute of life out of their machine and performance is no issue).

Check the following:
1. Try swapping the hdd with one u know it's working ( i had similar issues with a laptop, turned out the hdd was half dead)
2. Check for overheating cpu (by hand). It should shutdown all together if it gets too hot but it doesn't hurt if you put your hand on the radiators (if they are cold u got a problem, if they are too hot to keep your hand on you have another problem)
3. Given the provenance of the machine, any number of things can be out. If you got the parts, try swapping part by part untill it works and you pinpoint the broken components.
4. Visual inspection: on a machine that old i would expect some swollen capacitors (the most common reason i can think of for the failure of an old warrior like yours) look for other faults as well of course.

5. This one is most important!!!
It's a pice of junk. Do not! I repeat DO NOT spend a single dime on bringing it back to life, unless this is your hobby or something. If u want an antique to play old games on, you can buy some ancient Windows xp era gaming rig for peanuts.

And a big middle finger to all who said it was not worth it I replaced all the caps and the motherboard is now working flawlessly after 7.70€ and a bios update I'm not gonna waste money on new stuff if this dual core works
