Ive Plugged my DELL monitor into my PC it has one of those old display ports. It simply will not detect it as my second monitor. Ive plugged it into the same port on my main monitor: HP 27e. Still wont detect. ive rolled back drivers, installed new ones and it wont even show in devices. The monitor is plugged into both a power outlet and the PC display port. If anyone has ANY advice that can help, please give it, thank you very much. GC: GeForce GTX 1060

When you say 'old display ports' I'm assuming you mean the old style VGA with screws on the sides? That's an analog port, and will only accept an analog signal. There's 3 ways to get that. Straight up VGA-VGA connection (your gpu doesn't have VGA), dvi-i - VGA adapter dongle (that's the one with one side has :+:, dvi-d has just a - ) or use a powered adapter for hdmi/DisplayPort/dvi-d to convert to VGA.

Now if it's an actual DisplayPort port, there's a few things to try. In some bios, under video settings, there's a switch to enable multiple monitor usage. Default is usually OFF. You might have a bad cable, or you simply might not have the monitor input set for the correct port you are using.

Most gpus today will come with a dvi-vga dongle, dvi-i has those extra 4 little pins on one side. Those are the analog signal pins so will carry a VGA signal. Dvi-d is digital, doesn't have the extra analog pins, just a slot, so that port won't work. With hdmi/DisplayPort, those are digital signals that need to use an extra powered converter in-line that'll convert the digital signal to analog, so the VGA will work. Since your card does have dvi-i, I'd just use that port until you one day replace the monitor with something that accepts a digital signal like hdmi.

Ok. There's 2x types of converter. There's one that has plugs in both sides and one that needs wires. You plug the hdmi side into the hdmi of the gpu and the VGA side going to the monitor. Depending on which one you got depends on where the adapter will be.
