Hello!
I am in need of a new PSU for my gaming PC I'd like to know which one out of these two would suit my system best also for some quality so nothing pops or blows up, unfortunately these are my only two choices since I need one right now. I might also get a 980ti next month.

here is my system https://pcpartpicker.com/list/66QKzM

First one is corsair 650w CXM (newer one gray unit) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-cx-m-series-650w-atx12v-2-4-eps12v-2-92-modular-power-supply-matte-black/5845214.p?skuId=5845214
or
corsair 850w TXM https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-enthusiast-series-850w-atx12v-2-31-eps12v-2-92-modular-power-supply-black/5845210.p?skuId=5845210

Which one would be better? Also does anybody know who makes both units (FSP HEC CWT etc?)

Better to wait, and get a good unit and pay less.

You can get faster shipping. ;)

GreatWall is OEM for the TXM, CWT is OEM for the CXM you chose, but that's really a moot point as both companies build the units to Corsair engineers specs and both are capable of grade A units or junk. Depends entirely on what the vendor specifies. In this case, the TXM is the higher grade unit, designed more for gaming loads than the CXM, which is still a respectable budget line, now.

A 980ti only has a basic requirement of a 600w psu, so will run just fine on a quality 550w psu and still have some headroom for OC. You don't need an 850w psu for that system, 650w is plenty, including whatever OC you can slap in it. So it becomes a question of just which unit is better for you. The higher grade unit with tons of overhead, or the lower grade unit with more than enough. Either one will do the job. I'd go with the TXM, personally, because I prefer quality over quantity in general, and the TXM is the better unit regardless of size.

I agree but the RMX650 is slightly cheaper than the TXM850. I think one of the RMX psu's is the best choice for the OP if they are willing to spend around $100 on a psu.

EDIT: Oh, missed that they had to buy it at best buy. I would go for the G3 then.

So is the CXM, budget unit and not all that great.... ;)

The TXM is a better unit than the CXM, but it's 850W. LOL

You can get an even better quality unit for the same or cheaper by ordering.
