All PC games freeze after 5-10 minutes of gameplay but sound continues.

I've had this problem for about 2 weeks and It's completely stopped me from playing games.

This will happen on any game, from a really low intensity game like CS: source/Clustertruck/Unturned to heavy games like GtA V with maxed graphics (which my computer can comfortably handle) and Just Cause 3.

The games run perfectly for about 5-10 minutes and then all of a sudden the game screen will just freeze. Sometimes the sound continues and the game continues (if its a shooter I can still shoot) but the screen is frozen, sometimes everything just freezes all together, but I have to restart the game to get it working again. It happens pretty much without fail.

It almost seems like it starts to happen more and more quickly after it happens once. Like I might be able to play for 20 minutes but once it freezes if I restart it will freeze again in 5. This isn't always the case.

My display driver is up to date (its a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760)

Any help?

Solution
This is typically either a driver issue or an issue with the gpu. What are your temps like when you're gaming after say 5 min? Use something like HWMonitor and see where your mobo, gpu and cpu are at. Also check what the rpm of your gpu fans is at.
