Need help picking out Mobo!

So, my cousin gave me his build. This is my first time doing all this, but I learned a lot already (I'm glad I didn't go for pre-build! And, the motherboard ran out on Amazon (WAIT! I get Newegg, but Amazon is the best choice for me right now). It was supposed to be this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012NH05UW/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Best Buy or Fry's doesn't sell it. So, what motherboard would be a good choice. I'm going to have 8GB ram (ill upgrade some things later). and then Intel i5 6600k CPU.

tbh, in a motherboard, I just want something that does the job, no questions asked
  4. Then the two choices I provided is more cost-effective :) Your call

The Gigabyte has only one problem, DOA. The Asus I mentioned had a lot of problems with static, unresponsive GPU, not VR friendly (I don't trust VR), and heats in 2 seconds as one claims.

DOA is possible, just RMA and get another one, that is a good board anyway... If you dislike all of them, get this :

    Motherboard: MSI - Z270 GAMING PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($124.99 @ Amazon)

Ok, now, to apply thermal paste (i5 6600k does NOT come with cooling fan), you just put a rice sized shape in the center, then spread it around a bit, and then add the fan?
