Ryzen 5 1600 (OC) vs 1600x(OC)

Hey guys, wanted to know which one to get??

The Ryzen 5 1600 or the 1600x??

Please note that I will be over clocking the cpu within 2-3 Months and I am using a water cooler for my CPU!! (I am using 1070 and 16gb of 300mhz ram on an x370 chip

Well the 1600 is certainly better value when it comes to price to performance, especially if your sample will hit 4.0ghz or better with an OC. From my understanding almost all 1600s will hit 3.9ghz and many will hit 4.0-4.1. Pretty much all 1600x's will hit 4.0-4.1ghz. I really don't think the extra price for the 1600x is worth it, especially if you plan on overclocking. One of the selling points of the 1600x is XFR (Extended frequency range) which allows for higher boost clocks on the X model ryzen chips however you don't really need that if you will be manually overclocking. So if I were looking to buy one of those two cpu's it would be the 1600. I linked an article with more info on this below...
