Hi all!

I just bought a secondhand pc for a bargain price, but it seems now it was a bad idea. My Pc freezes randomly when i play games. When it does the screen is frozen, the tv doesnt switches off itself, and one of the fan is getting very loud. I have to hard restart after that.

I completely resetted the Pc, installed the newest driver of Nvidia, and some games but it still does the same. The interesting thing is that im able sometimes play Battlefield 1 for an hour, sometimes 10 minutes, but PUBG freezes in the first 2 minutes. So it totally random.

My specs:
Monitor: Samsung tv
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
GPU:6GB nvidia gtx980ti
CPU:i7-6700k
Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-Z170XP-SLI
PSU:Novatech Power station 750W
RAM: crucial 2x8GB DDR4

1) That power supply isn't the best, but I don't think it's the cause of your issues.

2) What model GTX 980 ti do you have? If you're not sure, I'd at least like to know how many fans it has on it.

3) Have you ever taken time to make sure that all fans spin and cleaned the dust out of this computer?

4) Have you ever gotten a blue screen of death (Windows crash), or has it always just locked up?

2) It is an EVGA with 2 fans
3)yes i checked all of them, they are working fine, Btw there are 2 fans in the front, and one in the back, one on cpu and 2 on the GPU
I didnt make a deep cleaning with compressed air yét
4)I never got blue screen, only locked screen

Please clean out all the dust from the system.

To clean the graphics card, remove it from the motherboard and spray the air along the metal cooling fins. This way, it will push the dust out the end of the card. If you spray down into the fans, all you'll do is push the dust from the fins onto the card itself.

If this doesn't help, we can try lowering voltage. If that doesn't work, you'll need to replace the thermal compound.

Ok, i will try to do that, but first of all i need to get a compressor from somewhere. When i did thad i will update about the result.

Please don't use an actual compressor. Moisture settles to the bottoms of the tanks in those.

Get a can of compressed air. Word of advice, when the can starts to get cold and pressure seems to drop, stop using it. Go get a snack or something. Once the can warms back up, it'll work better. Using it cold will just deplete it faster.

SO, i ordered a couple of thing like a can of compressed air and a thermal compound as well. I cleaned all the dust out of the pc, and i changed the thermal paste in the GPU as well( i watched a couple of video on youtube how to do). It was very dry so i really hoped it was the source of the problems. It helped me to reduce the temperature of my GPU almost by 10Celsius, but the problem is still the same. :/ I launched the PUBG and after dropping out of the airplain the screen was locked, and i had to hard reset the PC. when it happened my GPU was 59Celsius so it wasnt because of overheating. Any suggestion?

Are you sure that all of the power connectors on your graphics card are connected to the power supply?

Follow them back to the unit, they should be going into the red slots on the power supply.

If your power supply offers multiple connectors per wire, don't use it like that. Run a separate power wire for each connector on the graphics card.

It's okay to use a 6+2 pin cable in a 6 pin connector on the graphics card, but it's not okay to use a 6 pin in an 8 pin hole. Every hole in every power connector on the graphics card should be occupied.

On this psu there are connectors at all. Everything goes into the box an you have no chance to check them without removing the cover. But there are some changes since i updated this post. I went to the website of the motherboard and i downloded an application called appcenter. I updated something on that, and it seemed my freezes stopped. After 5 hrs of play it happened again. And it happens and happens just not so often. Something changed, but the problem is still the same. Maybe i should update the bios on the mobo as well? There are 3 new version available but i dont know if i had to install only the newest version or one by one.
