Info please guys, so confused here

I have Gigabyte GA-H170 Gaming 3 and about to upgrade my CPU from i5 6600 non k to Intel Core i7-7700K.

i currently installed ROG-GTX 1080A 8GB for the VGA and 2x8GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM on this motherboard. Will it bottleneck or somehow if i use that i7 processor ? or i need to upgrade my current motherboard in order to make all my component to run efficiently ?

FYI im using this PC for gaming and looking for max settings on AAA games. is it worth it ? or its unnecessary for upgrade? thanks.

"k" model CPUs have unlocked multiplier for overclocking and are usually combined with "Z" Chipset and not the "H" Chipset you have. H170 is not suited for overclocking as the Z170 and Z270 models are.

Since you are going from a 6xxx series CPU to a 7xxx series CPU and have a H170 motherboard, you need to update to the latest BIOS before you make the CPU swap. As @Calvin7 said, the H170 is not an overclocking board, but the 7700K has a high clock speed to start with.
