What is the best way to hook up components to a router for internet capability?

I am going to run 60 ft of cat5 or 6 ethernet cable to my living room to connect my bluray and my audio receiver to a comcast router in my basement in order to get a faster more stable internet connection than using wireless. Could I run two short ethernet cables from those devices to a switch like the unmanaged lynksys lgs105 and connect the switch to the single 60 ft ethernet cable to provide those two devices access to the internet? I currently get about 250 mbps hardwired vs 20-60mbps wireless. But I am not sure the switch would provide an internet connection.
My other option is to move my netgear wndr4300 from my home office to the living room and use its extra gigabit ports to connect those two devices once I add a new wallplate with the ethernet connection near the entertainment center. I know this option will work, and most likely will end up doing this. However, I thought using the comcast router to do this might lessen the workload on the netgear router which is getting a bit old.
Which is better, assuming the first setup would work?

Solution
A single Cat5e from the router (in its current location) to where you need it, and then an inexpensive switch for multiple devices.

No performance loss.

I really need to do a Visio diagram of my mediumly complex home setup for questions like this.

Thanks. So either option should work.
I think I will move the router first and see how that affects my wireless reception in the house. It may improve it as the office is not in a central location in my house.
But if the router does not get good reception in that location I will use the switch. Also if the router starts to overheat I will use the switch.
