My question is:
Is it worth tinkering with my existing RAM kit and trying to get it to run at 3000MHz or does it make more sense to sell it on as it is a brand new kit, and just buy a GSkill Trident Z set?
Could a BIOS update fix it in the future?
My issue is that RAM is so expensive at the moment - I bought this kit for ~£166 back in January from Amazon, and they're now selling the same kit for £266.91, hence why I rejected a refund when they offered.
My current kit is: CMU32GX4M4C3000C15R
I bought a stack of RAM (64GB) back in January and recently built a new Ryzen HTPC - I took 32GB out of my main system so I wouldn't have to buy more RAM (current prices )
I installed the RAM in the Ryzen machine and it worked fine until I went back into the UEFI and set the XMP profile. I started getting BSODs all over the place so I loaded up MemTest and had like 3600 errors in the first pass. I'd originally bought the RAM from Amazon so I called them up and they were happy enough to replace it for an identical kit which arrived today, except this kit doesn't even boot with XMP enabled.
The RAM works fine when installed and left to run at default speeds (2133MHz), but it's a 3000MHz kit..
