Should I upgrade my cpu the fx 4300 to i7-8700k? I'm trying to run new games at 1080p ultra with 60 fps but I'm having difficulties. My GPU is a gtx 970 my ram is ddr 3 1600 16 gb. If I upgrade to Intel I'm getting a water cooler and ddr 4 16gb 2666. Should I upgrade my cpu now then GPU later or vice versa

Now seems to be as good a time as any to upgrade to a new CPU. You certainly don't need an i7-8700K for 60fps, but maybe you like to keep your CPU for many years, in which case the i7-8700K would be a great choice.

If you get a liquid cooler get at least a 240mm radiator for the i7-8700K.

If your monitor is only 60Hz then your GTX 970 should be enough for now.
