Trying to fit Corsair Hydro H100i on a socket 775 CPU

Good day to all

I am building a new PC from some older and some newer parts, carefully selected, to be a decent setup. I intend to use it for video editing and other applications, but no gaming. Its basic configuration is (will be):
- Case: Corsair Carbide 400R
- PSU: XFX P1-750B-BEFX XTR Series 750W
- Motherboard: A modified Gigabyte GA-EP45T-DS3R, to accept Xeon CPU.
- CPU: Xeon X5492
- RAM: 4 x 4GB Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 XMS DDR3 1600 MHz DIMMs, total 16 GB.
- GPU: XFX Radeon R9, R9-380P-4255, 4GB GDDR5.

Now, the Xeon X5492 is a real power beast, with 150W TDP and it requires good cooling, especially at O/C conditions. Liquid cooling appears as the optimal solution. Therefore, my initial choice for a Corsair H100i seemed to be ideal and I bought one. However - and this was a mistake of mine - I did not check its compatibility, having in mind my previous experience with the Hydro H80 Cooler, which is compatible with almost all Intel CPU sockets, including LGA-775.

At this point, I am stuck.

I am trying to find a solution, with a slight modification of the H100i Mounting Bracket, by drilling four more holes at its four branches, to the space dimensions of the LGA775 (72mm center-to-center distance) and provide an after market socket 775 backplate, similar to this:

However, as one user say in a relevant thread post in Corsair forums, he tried to do the drilling and he found that the mounting bracket steel is very hard to be drilled.

In addition to this difficulty, I have also found that the Mounting Bracket for Intel motherboards is pre-fitted on the pump assembly head and no matter what I tried, I could not remove it from its position, in order to drill it safely. If I try to drill it in position, there is a great chance to damage the pump assembly, even if I provide safety isolation measures (like wooden protection of the pump assembly).

Does anyone know how to remove it or is it just irremovable?

Any suggestions and other thoughts will be highly appreciated.

Thanks, mate, for your suggestion.
Unfortunately, this is not possible.

So, we come back to the H100i. My basic concern is how to remove the mounting bracket from the pump assembly. Can anyone propose a way to do this?

Edit:
Your above suggestion for the Noctua Cooler, led me to one or two alternatives, both liquid coolers, which may become my solution. They both are Cooler Master models, the MasterLiquid Lite 240 and the Seidon 120V V3 Plus. Both compatible with LGA775.

The first sports a double-size radiator and a larger CPU block and the second uses a single radiator and a smaller CPU block. However these differences may be of no meaning at all, in terms of cooling performance, while the first might be more difficult to fit in a computer case, compared to the second one.

Here, in Greece they are both carrying the same price. The first will be available after about two weeks, while the second is in stock.

Does anyone have any idea which might be the right (or better) choice for cooling the Xeon X5492?
