Potentially stupid mini-ITX build with a single slot GPU and sound card?

Hello all,

I want to do a mini-ITX build, but also want a sound card. The most important bit is that I'll be using this janky m.2 to PCIe 4x adapter and a PCIe riser cable. Am I mental or would this work? (assuming the m.2 to PCIe adapter works)

Also will be using the Galax KATANA GTX 1070 which is single slot, the Asus Xonar DGX, and the ROG STRIX Z370-I motherboard.

Here's my full parts list:

If this works I will be ecstatic.

Though...I just realized...if I put the sound card in front of the GPU would that hurt thermals terribly?

Solution
if for some reason (like you have a very expensive analog audio equipment) you need a better sound card, those internal PCIe cards are not the solution.
the on-board sound is way better than it was and is actually kinda decent for speakers and even good (over 200$ headphones). if the audiophile in you requires more, external DAC/amp is the way to go.
So just get yourself a better CPU and GPU (katana while slim, is loud and anemic when it comes to cooling). may be in a bit different case you can have enough space for cooler that will handle 8600K or even 8700K - much more profit for you.
