Hello,

I am looking for a good overclocking mobo for fx-8350. I currently have a M5A97 le r 2.0, but i can not overclock my cpu at all. I used to have fx-4300 which oced perfectly.

Now i dont believe that the cpu or mobo is faulty, but i believe that the mobos power phrase is just not enough for fx-8350.

Since its already 2017, i dont want to spend a lot money on this old components but i yet can not move to ryzen or intel so id just like to oc the cpu a bit. Most likely wont even be buying a new mobo but a used one.
Just need to know what to look for.

I have not seen such a list for lga1151.
The reason, I think is that lga1151 motherboards are all competent and will fully support their cpu compatible list.
Even with overclocking, there is very little difference in the performance with different motherboards.
That might exclude the enthusiast motherboards that have provision for ln2 record seeking overclocks.
More expensive lga1151 motherboards will have the z270 chipset, so that is what you should look for if you will have a K processor and want to overclock.
You will pay extra for sli capability. If your needs exceed the capability of a single GTX1080ti, then that is an option.

Onboard sound is getting better all the time. You might pay a premium for better sound.

If you are going to change motherboards, I urge you to look at current gen lga1151 Z370 motherboards.
They seem reasonably priced, starting around $130.
Today, the 4 core I3-3850K costs $190 and should oc better than the i5-6700K.

Yeah pretty much agree with all of this, even tho i asked. :D altho i do believe there are a few differences even within the same chipsets.
