according to the manual my mainboard can support a LGA775 with a 1066/800 MHz FSB. I currently have a Intel pentium d 820 2.8ghz processor. I'm looking to upgrade to a Intel Core 2 Quad q6600 2.40 ghz fsb 1066 Quad-Core Processor

my mainboard speces http://www.gigabyte.in/Motherboard/GA-8I945GMH-RH-rev-1x#sp

According to the specs on the processor it uses a 1066 MHz FSB. My mainboard also supports 1066 MHz. My question is will this processor work at all on my mainboard?

Solution
Yes it will work FSB is the Bus speed the transfer rate from CPU to ram that cpu max FSB is 1066 but that depends if you have DDR2 1066Ram or 800Mhz if its 800Mhz its gonna run @800Mhz
in the end go for it its gonna work:)
