Hi Guys,

I upgraded my CPU from Intel Pentium G620 to Intel Core i5-3470.

At first, my PC booted up just fine and windows automatically installed the drivers for the newly detected hardware (CPU). Display driver has been updated as well from Intel HD 2000 to 2500.
With that, I was convinced that the upgrade was a success but then after some time using the PC, I noticed something very unusual that doesn't happen before the upgrade.

Running any simple applications is a lot slower than the usual (Google Chrome, Dota1), even the simplest windows application (Windows Explorer) is slow asf. :fou:Also I noticed that the CPU Usage is going crazy, getting to 100%. Navigating to everything is messed up. :fou:

See below items for other details of my PC, I hope someone can help me with this. :bounce:

Motherboard: GA-H61M-S1
Platform: Socket H2 (LGA1155)
BIOS Date/Version: 02-10-2012/F3
Memory: 2x4GB DDR3 SDRAM
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

Solution
Reinstalling OS is not required when changing from Pentium G620 to Intel Core i5-3470.

It looks like your BIOS version is too old for both CPUs and needs to be updated.

Hi Maarsch,

I'll try this one since this was also suggested by my friend.

Will update later.

Many thanks!
