I am adding an additional access point to a gateway-to-gateway vpn and need to change the IP address on the router I am adding, but can not access the router login.

I know the ip address of the router is currently set to 192.168.1.5. I need to change it to 192.168.10.5. The router, if it matters, is a Netgear WNDR3700v3 running DD-WRT, set up as a wireless access point It is functioning fine as a wired switch at the moment. I just can't "find" it on the network either directly through my browser, or with network scanning software.

Also, I am confident that there is not a device on either side of the VPN that uses 192.169.1.5, so no conflict possibility.

The VPN is set up as follows:

My Site <------------> Remote Site
Cisco RV042 <------------> Cisco RV042
192.168.10.*** <------------> 192.168.1.***

I can access any device at the Remote Site on 192.169.1.*** through the VPN tunnel, but I can NOT access the Netgear router login at 192.169.1.5, while it is hooked up physically at My Site, presumably because it is "under" a different set of IP numbers and I am guessing the network is expecting all devices on my side to be 192.168.10.***.

I understand the simple solution will be to take it home and put it on my network there (it uses 192.168.1.***) , but I would really like to understand why I can't access it here, and if there is a way around it.

Ok, so I took it home where I have the same IP range that the router was set to (192.168.1.***), logged in, changed it to 192.168.10.***, took it back to work and all is well. I still would like to know the why behind this.
